Paperback is Available

The paperback is finally available. It can be purchased from the CreateSpace store now; it will be available through Amazon next week. Below is an excerpt from the book:

Do You Even Understand?

There’s a drug Pandemic in America

Do You Hear Me?

Do You Even Understand?

In every city and every town

there’s a little girl

lying in her bed, wide-eyed

staring at the ceiling

craving a life of security

‘cuz her sleep keeps being in-ter-rup-ted

by her strung out daddy

who keeps beating on the window,

a white ANGEL beat staccato

it’s got him in its grasp

and refuses to let go.

His knocking and seeking

shakes the foundation of her home

and keeps her from sleeping

or else from dreaming.

DID YOU KNOW CRACK IS

THE POOR MAN’S VERSION OF COCAINE?

THAT FROM THE FIRST…SNIFF

HE SPENDS HIS MONEY AND LIFE

TRYING TO CHASE DOWN THAT FIRST HIGH

His daughter’s needs no longer matter, tho

she yearns to not have to watch

her daddy chase the white line

ANGEL to a place she does not understand

A place where little girls’ bodies

are traded in exchange for

chasing high dreams, where there’s

no food on the table, but

there’s a junkie who

spreads hopes and dreams all

across the table and smashes them

into bits of fine off-white powder

that nobody can use but him.

That’s just a sample of what is offered in the book. There’s more to the poem, but you have to buy the book to read it :-).

Happy writing to all!

Peace and Love,

Rosalind

About Rosalind Guy

I'm broken & my soul is weary/ my weary soul rebels, fights/ anything & anyone who tries to heal me/I beat my head against a wall of memories/ trying hard to break free from the chain of memories/ I can only be free by saying it so/ i weave a necklace from words and finally/ I find freedom/ free free free. As you can see, words are powerful to me. As Maya Angelou said, words are wallpaper of the soul. I have lots of nightmarish memories that threaten to break me, but I learned a long time ago about the power of words. They can be used to heal and destroy anything that threatens to destroy the person. Words coupled with love have the power to save and heal. I am author of three books: Skinny Dipping in the Pool of Womanhood, Tattered Butterfly Wings, and Blues of a Love Junkie. I am a high school English teacher. I am a former reporter. I am a mother. I am a woman. I am a fierce advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, those who's voices go unheard.
